What is an Analogy? • An analogy is a comparison of two things to highlight their similarities. Sometimes things being compared are physically different, but an analogy highlights how alike they are. • An analogy is commonly presented as a simile or metaphor. • An example is: Tolu is as funny as a clown.

Analogy in form of a Simile. • A simile is a figure of speech in which one thing is likened to another. Examples are: • As light as a feather. • As dead as a doornail. • As busy as a bee. • As quiet as a mouse. • As happy as a clam.

Eg. Using characters who represent famous people or concept such as good or evil. • Or writing a storyline that mirrors an historical event. Examples: The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe. Life is like a box of chocolates.

I must nuture them to grow – It is the responsibility of the parents to take care of the child.
