OPD Overview • The Office of Research created the Office of Proposal Development to enhance the overall quality and competitiveness of grant proposals submitted by UNL investigators. • The individuals that work in our office are required to: – – maintain knowledge of proposal preparation requirements at federal agencies, private foundations, and other entities. interact with faculty, staff, and administrators regarding proposal conceptualization and composition. compose, organize, and refine information included in external grant proposals. facilitate collaboration among faculty, staff, and administrators from UNL and partner organizations for multi-institutional, interdisciplinary projects.
OPD Overview Our primary responsibilities are to: • • • ensure investigators conform to the specifications detailed by individual funding agencies and requests for proposals (RFPs). make certain proposals address as many review criteria as possible. review, revise, and copyedit application materials to achieve sentence clarity, conciseness, consistency, and readability.
OPD Overview • Since 2005, our team has helped secure more than $121. 2 million in competitive funding from a wide range of federal and private sponsors. • During FY 2008, UNL applicants submitted ~ 1, 800 grant proposals requesting more than $502 million in sponsored funds, resulting in gift, grant, and contract awards in excess of $174 million. • UNL grant applicants are not required to work with our office; however, we see approximately 10% of all proposals submitted through the institution.
