Superpower Nations Emerge • USSR and USA “fight” for supremacy • USSR has puppet governments throughout Eastern Europe • USA briefly occupies conquered nations but leaves them to self-rule. • Both nations have enough weapons to destroy the planet. (Mutually Assured Destruction) MAD
