An overview of the BNSSG System Wide Dataset
An overview of the BNSSG System Wide Dataset Dr Richard Wood Head of Modelling and Analytics Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire CCG
Ambition • To create a single source of linked record-level data (SWD). • For improving health service delivery in BNSSG. • Through use by health and care teams and through applied research. As of 2018 • We had effectively no personal attribute data (Primary Care). • We had not bridged the health and care ‘divide’. • Data was disparate, and not in analysis/research-ready format.
Where we started out (August 2019) Primary Care Attributes table Secondary Care Mental Health Community Services Activity table x 1 million individuals
Where we are now B NS SG IAPT Wider determinants Primary Care Attributes table Secondary Care Mental Health Activity table Community Services Social Care Referrals
Latest developments • In process of incorporating: • Into Activity Table • 111 data. • Ambulance data (SWAST). • Into Referrals Table • Patient-level referral-to-treatment (RTT) data.

Data coverage
Further developments • Additional patient-related info into Attributes table. • Replace NHS-D flows with local flows. • Bring in additional dimensions, e. g. diagnostics and outcomes data.
Sexual health data • Currently no explicit data source. • Primary Care attributes – contains: • Pregnant (current). • Termination of pregnancy (ever). • HIV/AIDS (but nothing else). • Primary Care activity – currently insufficient granularity. • Secondary Care activity – contains maternity data. • Primary Care prescriptions – yes.
