What Civics is Civics- Is the study of rights and duties of citizens. You are all citizens of the United States, you owe loyalty to the United States and in return you get protection from the United States. Citizenship- is the duties and rights of citizens. Government- the ruling authority of a community.
Why Civics is important to you It is to teach you the political environment around you. Helps you participate in democratic process (Voting). It is how you’ll learn how and why the constitution was created. You will learn about your rights as an American citizen (The Bill of Rights and Civil Rights). How government institutions such as Congress and the Senate work. How a bill becomes into a law.
Discussion/Activity Please discuss with the classmate near you what it means to be a naturalized citizen (Give at least 2 requirements). Please discuss the classmate near you how you can lose your citizenship (Give at least two ways). Please write down your responses for both of the prompts above, it maybe collected.
