This is the WHAT, HOW & WHAT DO I INCLUDE section … The structure of an individual analysis: INTRODUCTION What to include: author/journalist name; name of article; when & where published; contention; type of article BODY PARAGRAPH(S) What to include: exploration of tone; exploration of persuasive techniques used to propagate/support the contention CONCLUSION What to include: a discussion of whether or not the article/piece of media was persuasive to the reader and why – which techniques worked And that’s about it for an individual analysis. Each individual analysis makes up 1 BLOCK of your BLOCK ESSAY
YOUR BLOCK ESSAY: PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER Now that we know how to structure up an individual analysis, and what needs to be included in each section … We need to work out how to structure up YOUR BLOCK ESSAY … Just to forewarn you, you will need to do 3 of these individual analyses of 3 articles provided - 1 analysis per article/piece of media AND THEN WE MAKE THE MAGIC HAPPEN … All you have to is put the 3 individual analyses together ADD an OVERALL INTRODUCTION to the ISSUE being discussed in the articles LINK the individual sections together and ADD an OVERALL CONCLUSION where you discuss which is the most persuasive piece, and why … … and VOILA, you have written your BLOCK ESSAY for ANALYSING ARGUMENT
