Instead of attacking him, the alien drinks up the coffee. Target audience and genre Young people Both genders Comedy/sci-fi fans It is a comedy-sci-fi comic
Character types A reverse on a stereotypical alien. Friendly, not meaning any harm Panicked citizens and stupid government, like in other alien/disaster movies Naïve young child stereotype Overprotective parent
Influences and setting This comic takes the “Evil” alien stereotype and reverses it. But the alien isn’t depicted quite like E. T. the “good” alien The concept was inspired by a Heavy Metal character created by Devin Townsend: “Ziltoid The Omniscient”. The difference is that Ziltoid is evil and just destroys planets if he doesn’t get the perfect cup of coffee. Whilst my Alien is good and misunderstood. Search for drinks for his planet. This comic will be set in an American style town.
Legal/ethical issues It might be too close to it’s influences and there might be copyright issues. If graphics, pictures or words are used that are not your own or public domain, there could be issues. It is a good idea to register the comic’s copyright in case someone takes your work. I couldn’t find any major ethic issues. Some people may not like the storyline or characters, but those are just opinions The fact that this was inspired by Ziltoid may not go down well. Some might not like that it is set in an “American style” town.

Why is it an effective piece of viewing It is an effective piece of viewing because it is a twist but it’s comedic as well. The audience doesn’t know what the alien wants or why it’s there. Until the end. But before that it has to overcome conflict. I’d say it is an effective piece of viewing for the target audience because it is fast paced, and younger audiences enjoy fast paced comics. The characters are relatable, being lost like the alien or being lonely like the little girl.
