American Dream ● ● In 1931, historian James Truslow Adams first publicly defined the American Dream. He used the phrase in his book Epic of America. "The American Dream is that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement. " The declaration of Independence: All men are created equal. Freedom, equality, opportunities, liberty, etc. A country where you can make your dreams come true, every person has a different vision of the dream, it is depend on what the person would like his life to be.
● ● Freedom: Examples: freedom to make both the large and small decisions that affect one’s life, the freedom to aspire to bigger and better things and the possibility of achieving them, the freedom to accumulate wealth. Equality: The American Dream also offers the promise that the circumstances of someone's birth—including whether they were born American citizens or immigrants do not completely determine their future. In a society based on these principles, an individual can live life to its fullest as he or she defines it. America also grew mostly as a nation of immigrants who created a nation where becoming an American. Conclusion: Reality has also taught the Americans, particularly the minorities, that the American Dream is not open to all. Segregation and discrimination are effective tools which have excluded minorities from equal opportunities in many areas.
