ß ß ß In the American civil war, America was divided into two unions They were the Confederacy and the Union Eleven states made up the Confederacy The Union was against the Confederacy’s belief The Confederacy’s belief was to let slavery go on, however the Union states were anti-slavery The two border states flags, the Union (left) and the Confederacy (right)

ß ß There are many sources which show that the slavery issue was not started by the civil war but the main cause that led to the war Since the Union States believed in anti-slavery, there were many abolitionists, such as Wendell Philips
