Ambitious, capable learners Are you ready to take on Josh’s record? (be sure to read GWR guidelines first via their website guinnessworldrecords. com/2020) • You can use any commercially available plastic bottle for your record attempt, as long as it’s 500 -590 ml in size. • Fill about a third of the bottle with liquid. (you’ll need to submit a video to confirm the measurement. ) • You’ll need to wear a blindfold during the attempt – you must not be able to see and an independent witness needs to confirm this. • Start with both hands flat on a hard, level surface, and with the bottle in front of you. • At the sound of the start signal, you must flip the bottle 360˚ in the air. It should land upright without tipping over. Remember: you can only use one hand one bottle for the attempt. • If the bottle doesn’t land upright, the flip will not be counted. • After every flip, you must locate the bottle again yourself for the next try – no peeking! Neither can you be helped by anyone else. • Only those flips of the bottle completed within the 60 seconds will count towards the total.
Ambitious, capable learners Mark Hayward was able to perform the “walking the dog trick” which travelled a record breaking 8. 28 metres. He shares his tips on guinnessworldrecords. com/2020. Can you “walk the dog” further? • Make sure you use a commercially available yo-yo that hasn’t been modified in any way – a witness must confirm this. • You should make your attempt on a level surface. • Keep that yo-yo spinning throughout the trick. If it stops, so does your record attempt. • Your witness has to measure the horizontal distance that the yo-yo travels, so they’ll need to place a marker at the point where it first touches the ground. • The measurement stops at the point where the yo-yo leaves the ground to return to your hand. Again, a witness should mark where that point is. • As the yo-yo begins to lift off the ground, make sure it returns to your hand in a controlled manner. • You’ll have to time your attempt and submit this reading with the rest of your evidence. • Make sure you film your attempt from start to finish – including the measurement of the distance covered by the yo-yo. And we’ll need to see the slow-motion footage too.
