Alternate Ending After reading the short story “The Dinner Party”, you will create a comic strip of your own alternate ending to the story. Follow the directions below to complete the activity. 1. Re-read the short story “The Dinner Party”, in the Holt Textbook. 2. Focus on how differently the story could have ended had the American not said anything to the party guests. 3. On an i. Pad or desktop, go to the Make Belief Comix App (http: //www. makebeliefscomix. com) Give your commix a name and put your name for the Author. 4. Create an alternate ending to the story, assuming that the American had not said anything to the guests at the dinner party. Follow the directions given on the website to customize your characters, setting, etc. 5. Make sure to refer to your Comic Strip Rubric. 6. When you are finished with your commix, use the Snipping Tool to “snip” your commix strip. Make sure you include the title and author boxes at the top of the commix. 7. Click the picture of the save disk in the Snipping Tool box. Rename the file with your first initial and your last name (Example: jpeebles), now click save. 8. Log into Blackboard and open your commix assignment. Click on Browse My Computer, find your commix in Pictures Library, click on your commix, and then click open. Now click Submit in your 7 th grade ELA folder. This task uses: Make Belief Commix App Common Core/NG Standard(s): • 7.
