Purpose • To Fundraise • To Launch New Dimensions of Service • To put Mu Xi on the map
The Idea • Well partner with the Gentlemen’s League • We’ll have 20 to 25 Greek or non- Greek male students compete for the title of Mr. Per. Alfect (Runner up: Mr. Right) • And during our 1 -2 hour practices we’ll have a 30 minute lecture in which we we’ll discuss topics including but not limited to: men’s health, how to treat a Per. Al, keeping up with the environment.
The Plan • The pageant will be on April 13, 2017 at 7: 08 pm in Tillman auditorium • The pageant will be about 2 -3 and half hours long • There will be 4 categories • • 1. Run the Yard- best dressed casual wear and introduction portion (1 min 30 seconds per contestant) 2. You’re Such a Stroll off- the talent sections ( 3 minutes 30 seconds per contestant) 15 intermission- play some stroll songs while contestants prepare for the next category 3. First in Class- formal wear along with information about what the contestants are doing on campus and in the community (1 minute and 30 seconds) • 4. Are you Supreme in service? – questionnaire portion; each contestant answers 1 question about service, culture, merit, and the community (1 minute and 30 seconds) • Tally up- 10 minutes for the judges to tally up and choose Mr. Pearlfect and Mr. Right
Entry and Admission • The fee for entry into the pageant will be $25. 00 per contestant. • Contestants must fill out an application and sign a media release and consent form • The consent form must state that as the winner or runner up the contestants must participate in two volunteer events with the illustrious ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. • Admission will be as follows: • • $3 dollars for Greeks $5 dollars for Students $8 dollars for the public $3 early bird tickets • We’ll need three sorors selling tickets and checking IDs at the doors, and 2 sorors at each door of Tillman to check tickets and monitor entry.
Coordinating • We will need sorors to fill the following positions: • Head Coordinator- supervise and follow protocol, make sure everyone is in there place and there's a place for every one- act as a liaison between judges and the hodgeos • Music coordinator- DJ • Stage Coordinator- help with rehearsal, choreography, lighting, and timing • Ticket Coordinator- get tickets and prepare them for distribution • Entry coordinator- manage applications and contestants • Hodgeos and ivy leaf reporter- write and deliver the introductions and the campus and community involvement speeches, crown Mr. Pearlfect and Mr. Right • Tamiouchos- collect money, coordinate prize prices, and acquisition of prizes • Media Coordinator- take pictures and video during the event
Judges • 2 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority incorporated • 1 Member of Delta theta Sigma • 1 Member of Zeta Phi Beta • 1 Member of Sigma Gamma Rho • 1 Member of the Gentleman's League • 1 Non Greek • Judges will have a roster to tally up points for contestants for each category. Score will be on a scale of 1 -5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best.
The Contestants • Don’t have to be in a Greek letter organization • Must have a suit • Must pay $25 for entry • Must have a 2. 5 gpa • Must sign media release and consent form • Must be a Winthrop student
The Prizes • Mr. Pearlfect will receive: • • A $100 visa gift card- giant $100 check A Mr. Pearlfect Sash An Ivy Crown Pink Tea rose • Mr. Right will receive: • Mr. Right Sash • Participation Certificate • Winthrop Hat
Proceeds • We should be able to make at least $2500. 00 for this fundraiser • Minus the cost of the prizes as prepared by the penurious Grammaticus • We could also do a raffle at the door. • 1 dollar per entry the winner gets a snack basket. • Winner presented during the intermission.
What we need: • Tillman auditorium • At set date • 25 participants • Advertising and promotion • Tickets • Volunteers from alpha kappa alpha chapter of mu xi • Prizes • For contestants • And for raffle
What we must decide? • If we work with the G. E. N. T. s league they may request we split the profit. • When to have rehearsal? • What we can afford? • Should we donate some of the money to a charity? • Do we like this idea?
A KARNIVAL Koncieted #48
Purpose • Fundraise • Have some fun The Idea • During common time at Digs we will host carnival games to raise money for alpha kappa alpha sorority incorporated.
Prizes • Food and snacks • • Cookies Chips Food basket Drinks
Games • Find the pearl • We’ll put 20 pink and green cups on a table upside down and hide 4 white ping pong balls underneath. People will pay a dollar for 3 tries to find it. • How many Pearls • We will put a bunch of pearls in a mason jar and let people guess how many pearls are in it. Prize will be received at a later date. 1 dollar per entry. (prize: snack basket) • Pearl Pong • We’ll put 20 pink and green cups on a table right side up and people will pay a dollar for 3 attempts to throw a ping pong ball into a cup. • Popping Pearls • Tape 20 pink and green balloons to a wall or board then give people 3 chances to pop them by throwing a dart.
