ALL THINGS NEW Revelation 21: 5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new. ” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true. ” • This is a promise made by God. • This is a promise that is trustworthy and true. • This is a promise that is present tense. • When God makes all things new, does that include us?

NO LONGER Ephesians 4: 17 -19 • “no longer walk” – If you are going the wrong direction, progress is backwards. • “futility of their minds” – The mind cannot think its way out of this problem, because the problem is a mind problem. • The mind is “empty. ” How did that happen?

FUTILITY How has this happened? • “Darkened in [our] understanding” because we are “alienated” from God. • “Alienated from the life of God” because of our “ignorance. ” • “Ignorance” is in us because of our “hardness of heart. ” • We have “hardness of heart” and “have become callous” because of our “practice of every kind of impurity. ”

NOT THE WAY YOU LEARNED CHRIST Ephesians 4: 20 -21 • To learn Christ is to learn a new behavior. • To learn Christ is to learn how to learn again. • To learn Christ is to learn the source of all truth: “the truth is in Jesus. ”

RENEWED Ephesians 4: 22 -24 • YOU -- Put off. • GOD -- Be renewed. • YOU -- Put on the new self. • GOD -- Created. • The new self is a cooperative project between us and God.

ALL THINGS NEW What does the new self look like? • “created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” • The new self is what the old self was created to be.
