All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga This Sunday Afternoon with our dear Gurudev Soquel, California. 19 September 2004 Presentation by Vaidehi Devi Dasi It was a quiet Sunday afternoon and all through the Ashram a fresh breeze blew. The temple and the Swami house were effulgent with Gurudev’s presence.

Gurudev usually likes to walk to the temple room around 10 am and then sit outside to take some fresh Santa Cruz air. Today, he still had not come out of his veranda, but the devotees continued with their daily seva…

. . . with the association of the visiting devotees, and exalted Vaisnavs, while he took rest. Even though Grurudev is here to recuperate his health, his presence is preaching to us all and filling everyone’s heart with joy.

Gurudev comes down at 3 pm! Srila Govinda Maharaj walked down the stairs, followed the path to the temple, and went through the prasadam hall. Nandarani dd greeted him and his devotees followed him to the temple room. We are always hoping for a chance to see him. When we get one we are thrilled!

Inside the temple room… Gurudev offered his respects to Gandharvika Giridhari and sat down for while smiling at the devotees. Everybody looked at him. He then began to speak a little about his health. a During these past few days he said he has been feeling some suffocation. His lungs are weak but he is taking his oxygen like the doctor recommended.

We sat outside for a good half hour as he talked about the orchard, the trees, and how special this land is. He mentioned how enthusiastic he is to walk around the land, but how his body is not too enthusiastic. Either way, he is happy to be here. Jaya Gurudev. Please forgive this brief report.
