What is the College Bound Scholarship? WHAT IS THE COLLEGE BOUND SCHOLARSHIP? Early commitment of state financial aid to help pay for college For eligible students who sign up in middle school and fulfill the College Bound pledge 4 year college scholarship – combines with other state financial aid to cover the average cost of tuition, some fees, and some books = commitment of funds Covers average tuition, fees, and book allowance at over 60 colleges, universities, and technical schools in Washington State
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE? STEP 1. STEP WHO CAN GET COLLEGE BOUND? APPLYING IS A TWO-STEP PROCESS… 2. Apply in 7 th or 8 th grade, must apply by the end of your 8 th grade year Meet income requirements; verified on the application. Fulfill the College Bound Pledge. Be accepted to and attend an eligible college within one year of graduating high school. Meet income requirements; verified by the college using information from FAFSA or WASFA.
THE COLLEGE BOUND PLEDGE: Graduate from a Washington State high school with a 2. 0 GPA or better. Have no felony convictions. Be income eligible, as determined by the college with information from the FAFSA or WASFA. Enroll in an eligible college within one year of high school graduation.

WHERE CAN YOU USE IT?
Deadline to apply: End of 8 th grade year NEED TO KNOW: Must enroll in college within 1 year of high school graduation to use College Bound Scholarship Must be used within five year of HS graduation (Class of 2024’s scholarship expires in 2029). College Bound is a four-year scholarship (12 quarters/8 semesters). THERE ARE REQUIREMENTS BUT THERE’S ALSO FLEXIBILITY! Be “in good standing” with your college to maintain scholarship (GPA, honor code, etc. ). File the FAFSA or WASFA every year to maintain scholarship - Income eligibility is checked each year of college.
WHAT’S NEXT? FULFILL Be sure you work to fulfill your pledge to receive the College Bound Scholarship A: B: C: INITIATE College bound scholarships will be distributed to every student during your homeroom class COMPLETE THE FORM Take the scholarship home, have parent/guardian fill out the application. Both you and your parent/guardian must sign the application before submitting SUBMIT Bring your completed form back and turn it in either to your homeroom teacher or to Mr. Hallmark directly Once your application is complete and submitted, you will receive a college bound scholarship certificate in the mail
