From AW October 2012 � Review Tools ◦ FSM’s, UI, Alerts, etc. � Rearrange CR 3 ◦ Dispose old DCS’s machines, rearrange new ones, cables, etc. � Keep DCS operational as far as possible � Many and long perturbations ◦ Works on cooling, safety, central DCS, CR 3, etc. � Modifications/improvements/upgrades: by ACC or by detectors proposed ◦ Detector upgrades with impact on DCS to be discussed with ACC to optimize integration. 2

DCS Infrastructure � DB upgrade during LS 1 ◦ No major architectural change foreseen ◦ Present DB service will be retired towards the end of 2013 ◦ Interface to offline (AMANDA) will be redesigned � Operating system upgrades are foreseen in 2013 � PVSS 3. 8. 2 dropped. ALICE will upgrade to Win. CC OA 3. 11 3

DCS Tools and Components � FSM (top node) complex and obsolete; frequently not used. It has to be rewritten to include SAFE and SUPERSAFE. � User Interface will be upgraded from the current version (3. 0. 10). Version 3. 2 beta already available. � SL interface under discussion (RC): interface with ECS (ACT, run info) � DCS shifter improvement (report to Logbook) � Web monitoring, alarm screen, DCS expert tools 4

ACO DCS � Immediate back-up � Follow ACC specs. (upcoming 34 th. DCS Workshop – during next AW) � Design new nodes/panels, etc. if necessary � Consolidate current ACO DCS: config, alerts, panels, etc. � TRAINING ◦ Design the course (for new versions of software!) ◦ Profit this and Alice MX, Aco, SMF, etc. meetings to enforce correct operation 5
