ALGEBRA II HONORS Distance Learning 2020 -2021
Welcome Back! The following are the guidelines for Ms. Dugan’s Algebra II Honors Course for Distance Learning 2020 -2021. As we navigate through the year, instruction may change to a hybrid model or onsite model. In that case, classroom guidelines may change. Please be assured that both students and parents will be informed of changes. With the understanding that these are unprecedented times and there may be concerns and questions, please contact me anytime at the email address posted on the last slide.
Course Description Algebra II Honors expands on the mathematical content of Algebra I and Geometry. Topics include linear functions, piecewise functions, polynomial functions, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, radical functions, rational functions, trigonometry, and probability and statistics.
Materials It would be beneficial for each student to have the following supplies: notebook, lined paper, graph paper, pencils, highlighters, colored pencils, ruler, scientific calculator. Virtual Classroom / Synchronous Learning ■ Students are required to attend all virtual classroom meeting times. ■ Attendance will be taken. ■ Period 1: Monday/Thursday @ 9: 00 am – 9: 50 am, Wednesday @ 9: 25 am – 10: 05 am ■ Period 2: Tuesday/Friday @ 9: 00 am – 9: 50 am, Wednesday @ 10: 10 am – 10: 50 am ■ Please note that student dress attire and all written and verbal comments / discussions must be school appropriate.
Assignments Students will be given two weekly assignments. Assignment 1 will be posted on Google Classroom on Monday and due the following Wednesday @ 11: 59 pm. Assignment 2 will be posted on Google Classroom on Thursday and due the following Sunday @11: 59 pm. Each assignment is worth 10 points. Students may turn in late work for partial credit anytime during that particular unit.
Assessments Students will be given 1 - 2 assessments per unit.
Grading Policy ■ A student’s grade will be based on assignments and assessments. ■ It is important that students attend all virtual classrooms for synchronous learning and complete all assignments and assessments. ■ A – 90%-100%, B – 80%-89%, C – 70%-79%, D – 65%-69%, F – below 65%
Office Hours / Tutoring / Small Group Meetings / Independent Learning ■ Students may take advantage of the following office hours/tutoring schedule for extra assistance. ■ Period 1: Monday/Thursday @ 1: 00 pm – 1: 30 pm ■ Period 2: Tuesday/Friday @ 1: 00 pm – 1: 30 pm
