Weird Al is an American singer-songwriter, music producer, actor, comedian, satirist, and a parodist. Best known for the parody songs he makes based off of popular culture songs and artist. He first aired his first comedy song in 1976 and since then has sold more than 12 million albums (more than any other comedy act in history!) Has 3 Grammy awards, 4 Gold Records and 6 Platinum records.

Born in Downey, California on October 23, 1959. Received his first accordion the day before his sixth birthday. Was inspired by Elton John to learn Rock and Roll on the accordion. Some of his comical inspirations came from Monty Python, Dr. Demento.

Went on to earn his architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University. He worked as a disc jockey for a radio show where his classmates gave him his famous name of Weird Al.

While trying to record this hit for Dr. Demento’s radio show Weird Al wasn’t allowed to record things in the recording room yet so he first recorded this song in the mens bathroom across the hall before sending it to Dr. Demento. He said it worked great for the acoustics! And Dr. Demento loved it and put it straight on the air!
