Specification � Revolutions Europe in early modern and modern ◦ Unit 1: Britain, 1625– 1701: conflict, revolution and settlement (Breadth study with interpretations) ◦ Unit 2: Russia in revolution, 1894– 1924 (Depth Study) ◦ Unit 3: The witch craze in Britain, Europe and North America, c 1580–c 1750 (Themes) ◦ Unit 4: The origins of the First World War (Coursework)
Assessment � Units 1 -3 are examined at the end of Year 13. ◦ Unit 1 - three essays: two covering content and one focused on interpretations using extracts from historical interpretations. ◦ Unit 2 – one question analysing and evaluating source material and one essay. ◦ Unit 3 - one question analysing and evaluating source material and two essays, one focused on depth and one on breadth (at least 100 years). � Unit 4 is coursework and is completed during Year 13. � Weighting: Unit 1 = 30%, Unit 2 = 20%, Unit 3 = 30%, Unit 4 = 20%

Potential pathways post KS 5 �A history A-Level is a route to a variety of courses. It is looked on favourably by universities and shows skills of analysis, evaluation and constructing an argument. � People who study history go into a wide range of careers, not just those related directly to history. It is a popular pathway for people progressing to the law, accountancy, management, business and journalism. � History is developing partnerships with academics from a number of top universities who come to the school to deliver lectures and workshops.
Other subjects � History works well with a wide range of subjects. It is a natural partner to other humanities’ subjects such as politics, geography, religious studies, economics, psychology and sociology. It works with subjects that have a historical context such as English, art and music.
