THALES DMC The Thales DMC is located behind the pilots seats in the A 320. It receives data from various avionics systems throughout the aircraft, decodes them and Engine processes them, to be displayed in the cockpit. The DMC can provide data on up to 6 different displays simultaneously. 3 Material

DMC COMMUNICATION The schematic here shows how important the DMC communication is to the pilot. Sensors placed throughout the aircraft monitoring key parameters feed the flight warning computer (FWC), this information is then disseminated by the DMC to the cockpit displays (PFD, ND, ECAM, DU). 4

WORKSCOPE AJWT have developed a comprehensive work scope on DMC’s to ensure reliability in service. Initial test Repair Confirm reason for removal, experience, shows intermittent faults are common, if a history of this is known, additional temperature & vibration testing performed as a matter of course (over and above CMM). According to test results the repairs are executed and all subcomponent repairs are performed as per CMM and Thales standard practice 2000 -02. 5 Built-in reliability Based upon extensive experience AJW perform detailed inspection for cold/dry solder joints and other possible Salvaged issues using magnification of “X 10”. This process is over and above CMM.

DISASSEMBLING After initial test all units are disassembled and cleaned. This extends the life on wing since many faults have been associated to accumulated dust and other contaminants from the aircraft cooling system. 8

SUB-COMPONENTS All sub-components are inspected for cold/dry solder joints and other defects. 9

AJWT TRACKING AJWT ERP will flag repair orders with same P/N and Serial #

AJWT TRACKING AJWT ERP will flag repair orders with same P/N and Serial # that have been previously inducted. Any return units, whether within or outwit warranty are flagged for further review Reason for previous removal taken into consideration in repair. Additional “stress” testing undertaken under Engineering guidance where applicable 13

AJWT CUSTOMER REPORTING AJWT undertakes a Quarterly review of all warranties (all part numbers)

AJWT CUSTOMER REPORTING AJWT undertakes a Quarterly review of all warranties (all part numbers) to identify any trends and to ensure appropriate corrective action is initiated. In this instance AJWT will monitor removal rates Causes of failure reviewed and tracked Customer specific work scopes implemented to address any identified issues Regular customer review covering MTBUR (Mean Time Between Unscheduled Removal), reason for removal and reliability improvement programs are available. Full reliability reporting subject to sharing of customer information e. g. flight hours, times, cycles etc. and trends. 14
