About the plant Avionams JSC is one of the leading aircraft repair plants in Europe, offering complete range of services for the overhaul, heavy repair and upgrade of: Mil Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters and their variants Mil Mi-24 helicopters Mig- and Su- family fighter jets L-39 trainer jets In addition the plant performs periodic checks and technical maintenance of the listed aircraft. The company has complete licenses for Export/Import and Transfer of Defense related products, issued by the Bulgarian Government. Those licenses entitle Avionams JSC to conduct the import, export and transfer of weapons specified in the List of Weapons. Avionams JSC has been a trusted partner for over five decades within the international aviation industry.

Istory Establishment and Ownership Establishment of the Aircraft repair plant in 1939, initially designed as an airframe repair workshop 1940 s - Further construction of aircraft hangars, an engine testing facility and mastering the overhaul of the first aircraft types. The workshop becomes an aircraft repair plant. 1960 s – The repair plant expands even further to accommodate the mastering of new jet aircraft types and receives the name “Georgi Dimitrov“. 1980 s – Continuous modernization and expansion within the repair plant. Construction of new hangars and facilities. The name is changed to “Terem – Georgi Benkovski” 2008 -2012 - “Terem – Georgi Benkovski” repair plant is privatized by the company “Telecom”JSC – a Bulgarian company founded in 1982, whose main areas of activity comprise the aviation industry, arms trading, aircraft sales and supply of spare parts. The company has been a majority shareholder in “Terem – Georgi Benkovski” since 2008, and in 2012 acquired full ownership of the repair plant. In 2013 both companies merged to form a new company named “Avionams” JSC. 2017 – Avionams JSC becomes state owned after State Consolidation Company Ltd. , part of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Bulgaria, acquires 99. 97% of the company shares.

Br. Ief h. Istory Jet aircraft era 1950 s - Complete specialization in the overhaul of jet aircraft and their engines. Mastering the overhaul of 1 st generation fighter jets Yak-23, Mig-15, Mig-17, Mig-19. First international contracts for overhaul of Mig-17 and Mig-19. 1960 s - Mastering the overhaul of 2 nd generation fighter jets Mig-21. New long-term contracts for overhaul of Mig-15, Mig-17 and Mig-21. 1980 s - 1990 s - Mastering the overhaul of 3 rd and 4 th generation fighter jets Mig-23, Mig-29, Su-22 and Su-25. The Plant gains significant international recognition and becomes one of the largest repair facilities in Europe.

Fac. Il. It. Ies Our activities are spread over three major facilities in and around the city of Plovdiv, over a territory of 81 acres, of which 13 acres are in hangars and buildings. Ies Airframe overhaul facility Location: Graf Ignatievo Air base, north of the city of Plovdiv ( see pic. 3) The 3 km long runway at the airbase allows fast and convenient transport of aircraft for overhaul directly to the repair plant. Ies Aircraft engine and gearbox overhaul facility Location: The industrial part of the city of Plovdiv This facility performs overhaul of: Helicopter and fighter jet engines Helicopter reduction gearboxes Auxiliary power units AI-9 V and other onboard systems. The performance of all overhauled APUs is tested on a special test bench within this facility.

Ies Testing facility Location: Krumovo Air base/Plovdiv civil airport (see pic. 3) This facility performs test bench trials of: TV 3 -117 helicopter turbo-shaft engines Helicopter reduction gearboxes VR-14 and VR-24 Fighter jet engines for Mig family and Su-25 jets Our test benches are equipped with real time tracking, processing and data storage systems. All facilities operate according to the rules laid down by the European Aviation Safety Agency /EASA/ in part 145 and adopted by the Bulgarian Civil Aviation Agency.

Ions Our company has contracts with Russian Helicopters JSC pertaining to design, technological and documentation support for Mi-8/Mi-17 helicopters and their civil and military variants as well as for Mi-171 helicopters. In order to guarantee the authenticity of overhauled aggregates or the authenticity of aggregates and spare parts purchased during the overhaul of aircraft, Avionams keeps contract relations with the Russian State Research Institute of Civil Aviation – Gos. NII GA Avionams JSC is in contractual relations with Rosoboronexport JSC for the performance of various contracts for supply of aviation equipment, for overhaul of main aggregates by licensed Russian repair facilities, for demilitarization of helicopters, for upgrades and service life extension as well as VIP refurbishment of interior.

personnel The company’s success is built on a team of highly skilled and well trained professionals. The company employs more than 300 people, of which 125 engineers and 93 technicians. We have our own internal training center, that takes care of all necessary theoretical and practical training, examinations and personnel validation. Avionams had excellent safety record regarding reliability and airworthiness of aircraft, overhauled at its premises. For over 50 years there has not been a single aircraft accident caused by technical failure of vital onboard power units.
