Lisa Garforth – Netball Coach All stars Netball Club - Hartlepool Lisa came to me with the idea of expanding our Netball club. She wanted to focus on a junior section that would give juniors of all abilities and disabilities the opportunity to play and be part of a team. I loved the idea and was delighted when she asked me to be the Head coach. Through Lisa's pure determination and passion for her dream, she spent months finding out information on how to achieve our goal. There was a lot more to it than we first thought. Working with children and disabilities required lots of forms and job roles to fill so we could offer a safe environment for all. Lisa managed to organise this and in 2016 we advertised our first session to children of 8 to 15 year old's. Within one year we needed to expand our session from one to four sessions a week. Now in 2019 we have five teams ageing from 5 to 15 years old. Our 14 year old's have now started to filter into our adult teams. It makes Allstars so proud to see these girls grow in confidence make new friendships and enjoy a game of netball. She has continually engaged women and girls who are victims of abuse and listened to their ideas, developing them into sporting choices which have made a significant and positive impact in their lives. Marsha Garrett – Dance Coach All in Youth Project Marsha is a dance teacher who provides opportunities for young people from Middlesbrough and Stockton's BAME communities - particularly those from black-African origin. Marsha is working with the communities on a range of initiatives including educating young girls on the practise of colourism where people with lighter skin tones are given preferentail treatment. This has led to the dangerous practise of skin lightening/skin bleaching among young females from the community and Marsha has used dance as a way to engage the girls and then educate them about the dangers of skin bleaching as well as empowering them to celebrate who they are and their heritage which has improved self-worth and improved the mental health of the participants. Marsha has proved to be an inspirational coach and community activist as well as an excellent dance teacher and her dance groups can been seen performing at community events around the Tees Valley.
Jessica Jolly – Yoga Coach Kalma Baby I am nominating Jessica because she finds innovative ways to inspire children to practice yoga. Jessica involves everyone in yoga and Jessica spends time building positive relationships with children to inspire them to practice yoga on a regular basis and to be able to see the physical and psychological benefits of learning the none competitive sport. They are very passionate about helping people and it comes across in everything they do. Their door is open to anyone who feels they need any support or if they just fancy a cuppa. Nusrat Ali – Fitness & Diabetes Leader Nur Fitness Nusrat is one of the most inspiring women I know. Nusrat lost her husband to cancer 3 years ago. She was devastated and hit rock bottom. She had been attending Nur Fitness and was a helper before his death. I motivated Nusrat to come back to Nur Fitness to help her with her grief. She has made the negativity in her life into positivity for others. She has worked endlessly on numerous projects with me on making videos on awareness of cancer (These can be found on the Nur Fitness youtube channel) diabetes and so on. She has worked alongside me at every single charity event I have ran from start to finish. She stays back late on the evenings, comes in on a Sunday without complaining. She tells me she wants to make her husband proud and wants to show other women, especially from the BME community that life has to continue no matter what it throws at you. In the Asian community widows have a very hard time and are not allowed to participate in life in the way that other women do. Nusrat has changed this perception and broke down barriers for women in her position and for divorces with her strength and desire to help other women suffering.
Nusrat Ali – Fitness & Diabetes Leader Nur Fitness Robina is a true inspiration to all who meet her. She was never given an opportunity in life as her mum suffered from severe mental health problems and she had to take a lot of time off school to help look after her siblings. She then had an arranged marriage at the age of 17. She struggled with studying at school too. Robina found herself at the age of 46 years old through Nur Fitness. She started attending the classes and started helping Shazia as a helper. Shazia approached her to become an instructor. She initially said no, as she struggled with studying. Shazia convinced her to give it a go. Whilst on the course it became apparent that she had undiagnosed dyslexia. Thus she received help and passed her exercise to music. Robina has then gone on to becoming one of the most inspirational instructors at Nur Fitness. She is known as then Asian Jane Fonda and has bought out so many women from the BME community to come out to exercise, many for the first time. Robina has become a role model for the all women in her community who are over 50. Before Robina came along, many believed that they were too old to start, but Robina has broke barriers and changed perception of the over 50 Asian women. Fitness gave her confidence and now she is known in the community as a women to aspire to. She is so humble and still can't see how inspiring she is and this is one of the reasons I want to nominate her as I need her to see what she has achieved and the difference her work has made to women who previously had given up on life and were sat at home depressed and feeling low.

Lyndsay Madden– Gymnastics Coach Gym mad gymnastics club Because she is a truly amazing inspiring lady. There are not many people who are as dedicated and passionate about their sport as Lyndsay. After my autistic daughter had a difficult experience at another gym club, Lyndsay literally saved her life and changed it forever. She has encouraged my daughter to be who she is and not ashamed of it. She changed her competitive pathway to a disability pathway and has campaigned with British Gymnastics to open up the disability route for gymnasts so that there are more options to compete in a fairer way. She has convinced BG to change the ACRO pathway which is coming out tomorrow. She continues to fight for disability tumblers to be able to go to National finals like all other tumblers (something they are currently not allowed to do). They have told her no on numerous occasions but she doesn’t give up! She took 3 disability pairs to National finals in May this year and 1 pair became British Champions and the other 2 placed 3 rd in Great Britain. This lady gives up so much of her time every weekend to travel to competitions with the girls. She is 1 in a million, inspiring amazing and I owe her so much for what she has done for my daughters who truly love her. I’m really excited to see what she will achieve in the coming years.

During her time at collage Tees valley sport offered me the chance through the pass on your passion scheme to mentor Ann Marie. I have played netball with Ann Marie for many years and was delighted to become her mentor. It came at the perfect time as we were just setting up our junior club and she was so keen to teach the juniors. Within two years she has now become a level 2 coach.
