2012 - 2013 APPLICATIONS • Due to limited funds, Agri. SETA places a curb on funding in all learning programmes. v Skills Programmes – not exceed 25 learners and 24 credits. v Learnerships – not exceed 15 learners per application. v Commodity Organisations – not exceed R 500 K • All application forms are available on the website. • Proposals not exceeding 10 pages for application on, e. g. Mentorship, non-credit bearing training etc.

LAND REFORM /RURAL DEVELOPMENT § Provide skills intervention to land reform initiatives and cooperatives in rural areas. § Project is currently limited to 3 provinces (Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KZN), which are said to provinces with majority of land reform projects affecting high value agriculture land. § Areas of intervention includes provision of Governance , Management and technical support to identified initiatives. § Partners to this project are the DRDLR and the NSF
WORK DONE TO DATE-LAND REFORM § Assessments/need identification done on projects received from Department of Rural development § Currently rolling out Learnerships in the 3 provinces (30 completed and 130 in progress) § Already provided co-operative training (farm together in Mpumalanga Province) in 2 projects. § Developed a mentorship model and currently rolling out to a cooperative in Limpopo (testing). § Working with stakeholders such as SASA and Citrus Growers to find a sustainable intervention to projects in the 3 provinces.
FARM MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE WORKER OTP –FLP -Apprenticeship § Integrated Occupational Trade Programme (OTP) and Foundational Learning Programme (FLP) § Objective: To cope with occupational demands within the scope of agricultural sector § Concept curriculum and scoping completed & consultation sessions scheduled : ü KZN at Shukela TC Mount Edgecombe ü EC at ETC Port Elizabeth ü MP at Grootfontein Agric College § DG application close on 24 Feb 2012 § Detailed information available on Agri. APPRENTICESHIPS § 2012 Turning point for artisan development § SETA’s serving as Development Quality Partners (DQP) § The number of trades Narrowed down to core disciplines § Industries elected trade experts review and restructure the core trades. § Training schedules replaced by national uniform trade and occupational curriculums § The Manpower Training Act repealed & replaced by Regulations for Artisan Development § NAMB takes full ownership of trade tests & will be standardised nationally § Trade test assessors, moderators and trade test centres to be registered with NAMB as Assessment Quality Partner AQP § New artisan development landscape take effect from 1 April 2012 § New Artisan Development system implemented over 12 months period § Current Apprenticeship system phased out over four year period § Additional information sessions will be hosted in April 2012
