About • Agricultural boarding school is a vocational school for the training of personnel of agricultural, veterinary and horticultural profession. • This school in the modern sense of the word began to work in 1947, and during its existence has had several phases of development.
• Until the year 1993 the school has gone through major changes, both in name and in teaching. • First it was a one-year of schooling brigadier, then a two-year special Horticultural school, and then it became the agricultural school with a three-year general educational profile. • In the year 1949 the school works on a fouryear educational program for agricultural technicians general course in order to subsequently open the departments of agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture and viticulture.
• With a large influx of students in the year 1977, the school became the center for the training of personnel of agri-food processing technology and common secondary education, "Dr. Sinisa Stankovic". • The school worked under this name until 1993 when it changed its name to "Agricultural boarding school. “ • The building which today houses the school was once a magnificent castle, built in 1777 under the request of Count Hadik.
History of the Hadik castle Futog seigniory owned by the family Čarnojević from 1744 to 1770 was one of the largest in Backa. The seigniory bought and made a castle, designed by Franciscus de Paola Manetho, 1777. Count Andreas Hadik was an Austrian field marshal and president of the Court War Council in Vienna. The ownership of the castle goes to the Kotek family in the year 1805, and it remained theirs until 1922. In it, a few days before the Sarajevo assassination , stayed Archduke Franz Ferdinand his wife Sophie Kotek.
• After the first World War, agrarian reform posed by Rudolf III Kotek was reduced and he dies without an heir, so his sisters Henrietta and Gabriel took possesion of the property which they soon sold. The property was then purchased by Count Franz Schönborn, and during the Second World War is owned by Count Alexander Palavičinija to 1944, when the castle was converted into a hospital for the wounded from the Srem front.
• Castle in Futog has not significantly changed its shape as one of the oldest aristocratic residences in Vojvodina. Later changes that were carried out on the building concerned the editing of the enterior and some changes in the decorative facade program, to a significant degree hasn’t changed its original baroque architectural concept, representative buildings constructed for reputable owners. • The castle was declared a cultural monument in 2001, and today it houses the secondary agricultural school.

Agricultural technician With the professional training program for educational profile of agricultural technician, student is qualified for organizing and implementing crop and livestock production in the combines and farms. After the completion of this educational profile, students can employ as an agricultural technician in agricultural pharmacies, nurseries and in all organizations engaged in the production and sale of agricultural products.
Veterinary technician The aim of a vocational training in the educational profile of a veterinary technician is to train students to assist a veterinarian in the treatment and health care of animals in the field and in the veterinary clinic. After the completion of this educational profile, students can work as a veterinary technician in animal breeding farms, veterinary clinics, agricultural pharmacies, slaughterhouses, customs or independently to breed domestic animals and pets.
Technician of agricultural technics The aim of vocational training in the educational profile of operators – mechanic for farming technics is to train students to operate, repair and maintain agricultural technic. Students who have completed this direction have the title of qualified workers, and can be employed in agricultural organizations as mechanics of agricultural machinery, maintenance of agricultural machines, dryers, irrigation systems.
Horticulture technician The aim of vocational education for the educational profile Horticultural techintian is training students to produce a one-year flowers, multi-year flowers and pot flowers, ornamental shrubs and decorative trees. They will also be able to transmit greening projects in the field and supervise the planting. Horticulture technician has the possibility of employment in firms engaged in the production of dendrologic material and seedlings, centers for the distribution of seeds as well as the utility companies dealing with the maintenance of green areas.
Mechanic for farming tech Vocational education at the course of mechanic for farming tech, students are introduced to the machines in crop and livestock production, their maintenance and use, as well as the organization of work in the mechanical workshop. Upon completion of this major students can work in all agricultural production organizations as well as in companies that are engaged in trade of spare parts and agricultural machinery.
• Besides doing mandatory schoolwork, students can choose to go to extracurricular classes to learn more and have fun doing them. Those classes are:
• Today, the school is equipped with all necessary resources for quality work with the students that enhances their learning experience. • And the students have shown that all that knowledge doesn’t go to waste by going to different agricultural events, entering competitions and even winning prizes. • Besides going to different events, students also contribute to keeping the school beautiful and well preserved.
