Background The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) initiative began in 2003 as a collaborative effort led by the Administration on Aging (now a part of the Administration for Community Living) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) California Department of Aging 3

Vision of the ADRC 1. ADRC was a “system change” initiative to help state agencies and providers work together to make it easier for consumers to access services and supports 2. What is an ADRC? Partnership between Area Agency on Aging, Centers for Independent Living, and other local agencies working together to streamline access to services and support options for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers. Legislation (Continued) On December 1, 2015, VA adopted federal regulations to expand the list of eligible providers under the Veteran Choice Program Under the new regulations, VA can purchase services from the Aging & Disability Network using VA Provider Agreements with the following: • Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs), • Aging & Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) • Centers for Independent Living (CILs) • State Units on Aging (SUAs) California Department of Aging 13
