Are the flies plentiful or sparse? Active or still? Clustered or evenly distributed? A ceiling that is dusty with flies has so many flies on it that they almost look like particles of dust. The flies are active, moving in a random fashion like dust particles in air. They are evenly distributed like dust. – What does Cisneros mean by a bald light bulb? What does this reveal about Abuelito’s rooms? A bald light bulb is one with no shade or cover. The image it evokes is one of sparseness and poverty. The bald lightbulb thus reveals Abuelito’s room to be poor and sparsely furnished.
