Institutionalizing Teaching Methods & Strategy Collect Best Practices Check Define In a Fun way for the kids Implement
Institutionalizing Teaching Methods & Strategy ▶ Have a plan for the year; for each term; for each week. ▶ Text Book is NOT the ONLY resource. Discuss something from outside text book every week. ▶ Put more emphasis on LEARNING rather than completing the syllabus. ▶ Have fun activities in addition to covering lessons. If this means covering lesser lessons, that’s fine. ▶ Create a learning environment in the class and provide continued learning opportunities for everyone both inside and outside the class. ▶ Test Question papers can always be customized as per the progress in the class. ▶ Collaborate with the teachers in the same Nilai to share resources (e. g. audio visual aids, exercise materials) and best practices.
What students want to know ▶ 1. Am I in the right room? ▶ 2. Where am I supposed to sit? ▶ 3. What are the rules in this classroom? ▶ 4. What will I be doing this year? ▶ 5. How will I be graded? ▶ 6. Who is the teacher as a person?
The Effective Teacher ▶ “Effective teachers believe that all students can learn and be successful. Effective teachers consciously create a climate in which all students feel included. Effective teachers believe that there is potential in each learner and commit to finding the key that will unlock the potential. ” Gregory & Chapman. (2007). Differentiated Instructional Strategies: One Size Doesn’t Fit All.
