Check-In Procedures ● Before you arrive… 1. Watch our videos! *Coming Soon!* 2. Pack right! 3. Collect signed COVID waivers! 4. Behavioral Quarantine 5. Check symptoms and temperatures before leaving ● Once at Camp… 1. Health check at the gate 2. Passenger and equipment vehicles separated 3. Monitor symptoms & temperatures throughout the week 4. Contact Tracing 5. Closely follow Camp mitigation strategies
Pack right! ● Try to keep equipment and people separate- this will help expedite check in ● Equipment vehicles will be directed to the pavilion for check-in. Vehicles with no equipment will bypass the pavilion, going straight to long-term parking. ● Wear your Field Uniforms on the way to Camp and be ready for Unit photos upon arrival ● Each Scout should bring a day-pack for check in containing swimsuit + water bottle. ○ Note: ONLY Scouts taking Merit Badges on the water, going on a High Adventure trek, OR who plan to participate in the mile swim need to take the Swim test. Not required for Polar Bear Plunge! ● Pack High Adventure & Boonesboro gear CLOSEST to the access door- gear will be separated based on Program type (Base Camp/High Adventure/BV) at the Pavilion. ● See upcoming Check-in videos for process walkthrough and more information
Behavioral Quarantine ● 14 DAYS before coming to Camp. ● Avoid group gatherings or other obvious places that could infect a person. ● Travel as directly to Camp as possible & limit stops. ● This is not the same as isolation quarantine. Just reduced contact. ● “Come in healthy and excited, leave healthy and exhausted!”
Behavioral Quarantine (cont. ) Monitor symptoms for 14 Days before arrival Please do NOT come to Camp if exhibiting any of these symptoms 1. Fever over 99. 5 2. Cough 3. Unusual fatigue 4. Difficulty breathing 5. Chills 6. New loss of taste or smell 7. Muscle aches 8. Sore throat 9. Persistent headache 10. Vomiting 11. Diarrhea 12. A positive COVID-19 diagnosis
Front-Gate Health Checks ● Upon arrival, your temp will be checked and you will be asked questions regarding your health. ● If anyone in the vehicle does not pass this screening, the entire vehicle will be sent home UNLESS rapid COVID-19 test is obtained for the symptomatic person. ● Adult leaders arriving after Sunday’s check-In should go straight to the health lodge before interacting with anyone in Camp- they will be required to undergo a health check, too. ● Our goal here: to only admit symptom-free people into the Camp environment.
Early Arrival ● As a curtesy to our Staff, we ask that you arrive between 4 pm-8 pm on Saturday. ● No meals will be provided between your arrival on Saturday and Sunday evening’s dinner, so plan to either cook in your campsite or eat before you arrive.
Contact Tracing ● Scouts, BSA requires Contact tracing for any confirmed COVID diagnosis ● Scouts will sign-in to all program areas and other camp facilities that they visit- BRING YOUR OWN WRITING UTENSIL. ● Again, consistent accountability is key.
Meals ● Reduced seating capacity inside the dining hall. ● Circus tent in the parade field to provide outdoor dining space. ● Meal times adjusted to accommodate spacing.
Dining Hall Expectations ● Wash your hands! ● Wear your mask! ● Wait 6 feet apart! “The 3 W’s”
Program Schedule“Day Block” ● Merit Badge schedule has been modified to reduce crowding & allow extensive cleaning between sessions. ● Merit Badge sessions will either be half-day or full-day durations. ● One session per Merit Badge Class. ● Expect partials, though we will strive to enable Scouts to complete left over requirements during Troop time or otherwise before leaving CDB.
Campfires & Assemblies ● To reduce crowd size and allow for Social Distancing, we’ll hold 2 opening Campfires (Sunday + Monday) and two closing Campfires (Thursday + Friday) ● Morning Flag Ceremonies will be held in your Campsites○ Staff members will come to your site each morning to make announcements and lead Scout Spirit activities! ● Evening flag will be held on your own in your campsite after dinner!
OA Callout, Flag Retirement, & Visitors Night ● OA Callout will be held on Wednesday evening at the Campfire ring. ● Flag Retirement will follow- WE NEED MORE *COTTON* FLAGS TO RETIRE! ● We will NOT have a visitor’s night to reduce COVID-19 risks.
Rafting Day-Trips ● Fridays only! ● See facts sheet on our website! ● Upon your return, check in with the Medical Lodge, pick up your dinner, and go directly to your campsite. ● If you’re leaving Camp on Friday morning… 1. Arrange for your campsite inspection to take place on Thursday evening. 2. You will attend Thursday night’s closing campfire.
High Adventure Registration ● Due to a van shortage, we ask that you please send your final High Adventure numbers to Mrs. Melinda by March 1, 2021!
COVID-19 Mitigation Strategies at CDB Ø Masks Ø Social Distancing Ø Mindful Mingling Ø Limited Roaming Ø Trading Post Limits Ø Fewer Meetings Ø “Once in Camp, Stay in Camp!” Ø Campsite-Based Programming Ø Handwashing
Mask Up! ● Masks MUST be worn in all indoor spaces, including the camp Office, Trading Post, Dining Hall, and some program areas. ● Locations that require masks to enter will be marked with a sign at each entrance. ● Units are encouraged to ensure that each Scout brings AT LEAST 1 CLEAN MASK FOR EACH DAY AT CAMP. ● Masks will be available for purchase at the Trading Post
Social Distancing ● Scouts will need to bring something to sit upon during classes to allow enough space for Social Distancing.
Mindful Mingling ● Make new friends from a safe distance! ● COVID Handshake!
Limited Roaming ● Scheduled Boonesboro visits. ● Scheduled Trading Post visits. ● Please be mindful of Social distancing when moving through Camp!
Trading Post Limits ● Limited capacity inside the trading post. ● Designated flow paths inside. ● Hand sanitizer must be used upon entering and exiting!
Fewer Meetings (Hooray!) ● Scoutmaster meetings will only be held under the circus tent: ○ Sunday evening ○ Monday morning ○ Wednesday afternoon ○ Friday Evening (Paperwork questions/Adjustments) • Bulletin boards by the office & each campsite will be heavily utilized. Rolling announcements on TV’s in the Dining Hall. • SPL Meetings important for communication!
“Once in Camp, Stay In Camp!” ● Please refrain from making trips into town! ● Some off-Camp programming will continue but carefully monitored, including: ○ Rafting day-trips ○ Horsemanship & Animal Science Merit Badges
Campsite-Based Programming ● In place of large gatherings, we’ll bring the fun to you! ● Scheduled visits to Boonesboro based on Campsite ● In-campsite flag assemblies & evening programming ● More “Troop time”
Handwashing ● Handwashing or sanitizing stations placed in every program area. ○ Staff will monitor these stations during mealtimes to remind Scouts to wash up. ● Handwashing or sanitizing mandatory before each class. Instruction spaces will be thoroughly cleaned between classes. ● We suggest bringing plenty of hand-sanitizer, including small carriable sanitizer bottles for each Scout. ● Consistent accountability is key!
