Imperialism Control by one country of the political, economic or cultural life of another country or region. By the mid-nineteenth century, the demand for raw materials and new markets was growing due to the industrial revolution. This new quest for colonies is often referred to as New Imperialism.
New Imperialism – The Roles Independent – A country that makes its own decisions and can trade with any country they choose. Sphere of influence – A country that is under the influence of another country, and mostly has to trade with only that country
Colony - A country that is completely controlled by outsiders Protectorate – A country that is controlled by outsiders, but only indirectly through local leaders.
