Affordable, Clean Energy & Climate Action
Types of affordable clean energy • There's a better, cleaner way to meet our energy needs. Renewable energy resources like wind and solar power generate electricity with little or no pollution and global warming emissions— and could reliably and affordably provide up to 40 percent of U. S. electricity by 2030, and 80 percent by 2050. • West India Wind Power. Project Type: Renewable energy. • Danjiang River Solar Cooker. B. C.

Benefits of affordable clean energy • One major advantage with the use of renewable energy is that as it is renewable it is therefore sustainable and so will never run out. Renewable energy facilities generally require less maintenance than traditional generators. Their fuel being derived from natural and available resources reduces the costs of operation. • B. C.

What is Climate Change? Climate is the average temperature as recorded over a long period of time. Climate Change is caused by the Greenhouse effect. This is when the light & heat from the sun gets trapped in our atmosphere due to its transparency. This transparency is caused by not using clean energy & using fossil fuels. RC
How climate change affects wildlife in the North Pole. By Emili • Global warming is melting the ice in the North Pole and polar bears are struggling to find food. Global warming is affecting the North Pole more than anywhere else on earth. Polar bears need to burn 12, 325 calories a day and they need to eat 60% more than everyone thought they needed. Polar bears are now depending on a calorie-loaded diet of seals. The ice is now melting sooner in the spring and it is forming later in the autumn. The polar bears are forced to burn huge amounts of energy swimming or walking to find food.
How Plastic affects Climate Change • • Plastic is harmful because it is 'Non-Biodegradable'. When thrown on land it makes the soil less fertile. When thrown in water it chokes our ponds, rivers and oceans and harms the sea life. We can also help by using cloth bags for shopping instead of plastic bags. Plastic cannot be digested & therfore, when eaten, just blocks up your digestive system. It is also extremely toxic and if you get plastic poisoning you can recieve these symptons; • Drooling • Loss of Vision • Severe pain in mouth, throat, nose, eyes, ears, lips or tongue • Throat swelling • Hoarseness RC
How climate change affects the ocean. Emili • The ocean has absorbed 90% of the heatwave humans have created since the 1970 s. If the ocean did not absorb all the heat we created the heat would rise into the atmosphere and temperatures all over the earth would have risen by 56 degrees Celsius. The ocean has a limit to how much it can absorb the heat created by us. Warmer temperatures result is coral bleaching which is when the coral will release the symbiotic algae living in its tissue because of heat or light, The makes the, go white. In 2005 the U. S. has lost half its coral reefs in the Caribbean from a massive bleaching event. The Great Barrier Reef is also losing its bright colors due to bleaching. By
