Mentor ship systems : A mentor is an experienced qualified nurse, based in a clinical setting, who assists a student with all aspects of her course, The mentor will usually be a sister/ charge nurse of staff nurse and the student is allocated to her for the full duration of the clinical placement, the role of the mentor is essentially one of the guidance and support for the student

The role of a mentor defined by the Further Education Panel of the Council for National Academic 1. To provide, a supportive confidential guidance facility the course member. 2. To advise, on matters relating the course. 3. Support for the course team in it's delivery of the course to it's students

4. Support and advice ( rather than supervision ), to help the course member meet the demands of the course 5. The role of the mentor is thus to act the link person between the student and course team, providing advice and support as required by the student.
