4. ADRI UP Action: Activities Activity 3 Studies for the upgrading of railway infrastructures in the Port of Ancona will develop the intermediate and final designs of the works for upgrading the existing railway infrastructure inside the port commercial terminal. The five railway tracks will be extended from 260 -300 m to 550 m. The studies cover the following elements: Ø Extension of railway tracks to 550 m. The railway terminal is currently located in the area dedicated to temporary storage of containers and to the loading/unloading operations; Ø Redesign of the existing road infrastructure. Currently 700 m long, the road network will be adapted to the new terminal layout and high volume of vehicles; Ø Replacement of the customs entrance to allow the extension of the railway tracks. Ø Reorganization of the container yard to allow the extension of the railway tracks. The storage areas will be reorganized but it is not expected a reduction of the available space. 16

4. Conclusion Will contribute to foster the Mo. S concept as i) mean of connection among MED, BAC, SCAN-MED and Orient-East Med CNC’s; ii) mean of efficient and intermodal connection of the ports with their hinterland areas; iii) sustainable mode of transport promoting modal shift; Will ensure project visibility, and compliance with the priorities stated in the II° Pillar of the Mo. S DIP and in the framework of the EU Strategy for Adriatic Ionian Region (EUSAIR) Will highlight the key role of CEF Transport contribution to the port’s accessibility improvement as well as to the enhancement of the trade competitiveness in the Adriatic. Ionian intermodal corridor, creating investment opportunities in the involved areas Will enhance the private logistic operators business, mostly of them already included as supporting partners of the Action 27
