Simulations I run Simulations for the graphite target were run using both physics models

Simulations I run Simulations for the graphite target were run using both physics models (Bertini and Binary Cascade): • Muon production in a solid angle of 2 pi using 5 beam windows for detection to check the isotropy of muons; if isotropic, an increase of muon detection solid angle by a factor of 5 would allow a decrease of the no of protons on target I simulate by a factor of 5; • Simulations to check if there is any difference in flux between the "upstream" and "downstream” target faces for 90 degrees extraction • Simulations to check the location of the horizontal centre of the spot with respect to the intersection of the proton beam centre line and midplane of target plate; • variation of the flux with the target thickness -> thicker targets (from 35 mm to 125 mm on Z) as well as thinner targets (from 5 mm to 35 mm); • location of the spot size as in the second task versus target thickness;

To do • Get these jobs run without being aborted after couple of hours

To do • Get these jobs run without being aborted after couple of hours and analyze the output of these simulations;

Difficulties • Simulations on northgrid limited by a job lifetime limit of 12 hours;

Difficulties • Simulations on northgrid limited by a job lifetime limit of 12 hours; • Jobs queuing time couple of hours -> running another few hours -> then aborted; • After the new changes in Man and RAL myproxy server fails to renew the job proxy before it expires at the end of the 12 hours;
