Adjectives • Adjectives are words that describe, people , places , and things. • Adjectives describe nouns. • Adjectives add interesting details to your descriptions. • Adjectives modify the noun. • Adjectives can come right before a noun or right after a verb.

Adjectives • When adjectives come after a verb, they tend to be separated by a conjunction. • When you have two adjectives come before a noun, you usually just put a comma between them. • Adjectives answer questions , like : What kind? , Which one? , How many ? , and How much? .

Adverbs • Adverbs usually describe or modify adjectives, verbs, clauses, and other adverbs. • A better way to define adverbs is by what they do in a sentence. • Lots of adverbs end in “ly”. • Not every word that ends in “ly” is an adverb. • Adverbs make writing and speaking more interesting and precise.

Adverbs • In many cases, all you have to do is add “ly” to an adjective to turn it into an adverb. • Adverbs answer questions like: “how? ”, “when? ”, “where ? ”, and “to what degree? ”.

Adverb Examples 1. I will surely remember to take out the garbage. 2. I will probably never forget you. 3. The children awoke unusually early. 4. The actor bowed gracefully low. 5. She sang more beautifully tonight than last night.
