Problem • Preterm birth complications are the leading cause of death among children under 5 years of age, responsible for nearly 1 million deaths in 2013. • Neonatal incubators are very limited and unavailable in rural areas. • Preterm birth children are more susceptible to critical conditions like Hypoxia and Apnea • Risky methods like use of incandescent bulbs are used in rural Primary healthcare centres • Long term vitals monitoring is really uncomfortable in existing systems

Existing Low Cost Incubators • GE Healthcare - Lullaby baby-warmer Pro: • Ease of use • Uniform heat distribution Cons: • Stationary unit • Expensive in comparison to other solutions http: //ichef-1. bbci. co. uk/news/624/media/images/69456000/jpg/_69456433_dsc 04108. jpg

Embrace Pro: • Inexpensive (25$) • Doesn't require power Cons: • Passive in nature • Cannot detect emergency situations like Hypoxia(Lack of oxygen) http: //cdn 5. triplepundit. com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/manjula_thumb 1. jpg

Solution- ADITI: Diagnostics enabled baby warming bodysuit

Respiration Sensing • Use of piezoresistive fabric sensor to detect expansion and contraction of diaphragm • Wheatstone network to measure change in resistance accurately • Low cost and comfortable compared to Impedance pneumography Sensor sewn using conductive thread Teammate wearing sensor

Pulse ox & Plethysmography • Blood Oxygentation and Heart Rate measured by the accurate&small MAXIM’s MAX 30100 (Used in LG G watch) • Earworn sensor for accurate measurement using custom 3 d printed clip • God bless the smart watch revolution • Alerts configured for Hypoxia Hard to Soft textile interface 3 d printed clip sensor

Temperature Sensor • LM 35 temperature sensor • Body temperature comfortably measured below armpit using textile ribbon cable • Used to give feedback control for heating element

Heating element • Li. Tex Stainless steel thread used for warming the child safely and efficiently • Safe heating using PWM & PID control (Adjustable securely through OTP login) • Ruggedized through the use of Kapton layer https: //cdn-shop. adafruit. com/1200 x 900/1481 -00. jpg

Value Proposition • Low cost, comprehensive information gathering and dissemination for all stakeholders • Enables quick & accurate diagnosis –Doctors • Saves crucial time by providing ability for remote diagnosis -Doctors & Parents • Timely alert and notification for parents even when physically not present –Parents • Prescription adjustment based on real time data –Parents • Low maintenance devices that can be fixed by swapping modular components Health aid workers and volunteers • Easy to use and understand eliminating the cost for extensive training of community health workers -Primary Healthcare Centers • Optimal allocation of resources for NGO’s according to heat maps based analytics – NGO’s and local government

Conclusion: Final goal is to build a clinical grade, multi-parameter wearable vest to leverage machine learning based diagnostics. In other words to build the “Sherlock” for the IBM Watson http: //cdn. uconnectlabs. com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2016/01/ibm_watson-1. png
