Feedback Allocation A-MAP IE (1) For the FBCH, within a single allocation for an

Feedback Allocation A-MAP IE (1) For the FBCH, within a single allocation for an MS, a provision should be made for: • At least two Feedback (CQI) reports –To provide greater flexibility within the BS scheduler to facilitate load balancing & efficient RRM –To allow the BS to exploit enhanced features supported by the network and MS e. g. FFR, Adaptive switching (MIMO mode x&y, Localized & Distributed, multicarrier) • Variable feedback rate for different reports on same allocation –Short Period for the CQICH report that is used typically for Link Adaptation (short term channel variation) –Long Period for CQICH report that is used typically for radio mode adaptation (long term channel variation) –Long Period report punctures Short Period report based on their respective periods 2

Feedback Allocation A-MAP IE (2) Accordingly following elements should be introduced in the Feedback

Feedback Allocation A-MAP IE (2) Accordingly following elements should be introduced in the Feedback Allocation A-MAP IE: • Number of Reports: –If off, only one FFB report is defined for this allocation. –If on, 2 FFB reports are defined. • Short Allocation Period (p): –Default allocation period for the FFB report when Number of reports is equal to 1; short allocation period for the Short Period report when Number of reports is more than 1 –Short Period report is feedback every (2^p) frames • Long Allocation Period (q): –Allocation period for Long-Period report –Long Period report is feedback every [2*(2^q)*(2^p)] frames –Where applicable, Long Period report supersedes Short Period report 3
