Program Overview • 12 -week walking program (ran from June 6 to September 4, 2006) • Open to all U. S. employees (excluding contractors) • Encouraged participants to walk their way to a healthier lifestyle by reaching for program milestones of 600 -, 1, 200 - and 1, 800 minutes walked – Participants could track minutes walked online – Participants sent a starter kit upon program sign-up – Participants sent motivators at each program milestone for encouragement – Grand-prize drawing featured an i. Pod shuffle and three pairs of walking shoes • Launched via ADCannounce from Mary Pat Pearson • Featured weekly in ADCalamanc, communicated Featured Milestone Champion stories and walking tips 10/29/2021 2

Feedback Highlights “Include other activities besides walking, such as, biking, swimming, etc. The idea is to get people moving to help their health. Not everyone likes walking. ” “I think this walking program was a great idea and I have to say kudos to the ADC Wellness Committee!! I wish ADC offered some type of exercise program onsite. ” “Great idea! Everyone can use a little motivator for exercising more!” “Not only walking but "taking time for yourself" needs to be incorporated into theme. ” “I liked this program because there was no charge. ” “Before this program, I walked or tried to each lunch hour, but this increased the incentive. ” “I thought the walking program was great. Lessons Learned • U. S. employees are eager to adopt healthier lifestyles through program participation. – Some participants directly expressed appreciation of this formal program and ADC’s commitment to employees. • “If you build it, they will come. ” Program participation exceeded hopes and expectations. – Employees don’t need motivation, they need encouragement. • Participants enthusiastically shared success stories, which encouraged fellow participants to reach their personal/program goals. 10/29/2021 9
