“Early in life I read, ‘Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. ’ The Sunday school is my business – all the rest are things. ” John Wanamaker
“Most middle class Americans tend to worship their work, work at their play and play at their worship. ”
THE MAIN THING IS TO KEEP THE MAIN THING
The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid [again]; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. (Matthew 13: 44)
26 But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, "Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza. " (This is a desert [road]. ) 27 So he got up and went; and there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he had come to Jerusalem to worship, (Acts 8: 26 -27)
So he got up and went; and there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he had come to Jerusalem to worship, (Acts 8: 27)
28 and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah. 29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot. " 30 Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading? " (Acts 8: 28 -30)
I. God Will Make A Way For Those Who Seek Him the LORD is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. (II Chronicles 15: 2 b)
You will seek Me and find [Me] when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29: 13)
7 Ask, and it will be given to you; Seek, and you will find; Knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. (Matthew 7: 7 -8)
OUR GOD WORKS UPSTREAM! Very Few Really Seek GOD
13"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14"For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7: 13 -14)
30 Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading? " 31 And he said, "Well, how could I, unless someone guides me? " And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. (Acts 8: 30 -31)
II. God’s Word Can Be Understood By Those Who Seek Him Acts 8: 32 -33 Isaiah 53: 7 -8 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to
slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered that He was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke [was due]?
34 The eunuch answered Philip and said, "Please [tell me], of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself or of someone else? " 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him. (Acts 8: 34 -35)
He taught him what he did not know and had never heard.
III. The Message Is Jesus! • Not us, • Not the church, • Not a program. . .
or we lose.
It’s all about Jesus or we lose. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved… (Mark 16: 16 a)
