ACTIVITY SHEET EMERGENCY VEHICLES AND ROAD SAFETY w/c May 3 rd 2021 1. There are 3 main emergency services of people who help us. Can you write them all down. Then choose one of them and draw a picture of the vehicle. Can you write down when you might need it or what you might need it for? Have a look at the first 7 slides of this power-point to help you. 2. Most emergency vehicles travel on the ground. Do you know what number to call if you need any of them to help you? Can you practise writing this number down. Now can you also learn your home address, just in case you ever need to call for help. 3. Do you know the stories of Fireman Sam? He was part of the fire service. You may have some books at home or choose to listen to a story about him on line. Firemen do not only put out fires – do you know what else they do? Can you draw a fireman and write what he is doing? 4. We are going to look at some shapes. We have found some 2 D shapes before, but have a look at this lesson on Oak Academy and see if you can identify some 3 D shapes – they are a bit different. You may spot some shapes you already know inside them. Have a look around you and see which 2 D and 3 D shapes you can find inside and outside. 5. Can you play the helicopter rescue game on Topmarks? First try to spot the correct number and then try to count on or back using the number line. 6. Can you practise writing out your numbers from 1 -10. Then can you have a go on your own and go backwards from 10 -1? 7. Have a look at this power-point about staying safe on the roads. There are signs out on the roads that we see every day which are there to help us keep safe. Do you know what any of these mean? Have a look at them with a grown up and then see if you can spot them when you next go out. 8. It is really important for us all to remember to stay safe so we don’t need to call the emergency services. One thing we can do is learn to cross the road safely. Listen to this song. It’s all about helping you to remember to cross the road safely. Do you know any other road safety songs, or can you make one up? Remember to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN. 9. Can you use the attached road safety maze to find yourself a safe way to travel from home to school. 10. Could you make a poster to help you remember how to cross a road safely – we could put it up and share it with your friends.
