l Information of the National Focal Points, if there are obviously errors in the data Dear …. , …. We applied a quality control to the CLIMAT data which is derived from SYNOP data. This month, all parameters show huge differences between both data sources (see below). E. g. the monthly mean temperature of station 17022 Zonguldak in the CLIMAT report is 14, 7 °C (group 3), but derived from SYNOP 22, 7 °C. Since the long term average is 21, 3 °C, the CLIMAT value seems to be incorrect. …. . We would very much appreciate, if you could let check the CLIMAT reports for August 2015, because they all seem to be incorrect. l Support with information about incorrect BUFR CLIMAT Van: Uden van, Peter (KNMI) Verzonden: donderdag 16 april 2015 15: 47 Aan: 'Karola. Hansen@dwd. de' CC: Verver, Ge (KNMI) Onderwerp: Sunshine data CLIMAT The Netherlands | Februari and March 2015 Dear Karola, with reference to your email from Wednesday 15 april 2015 09: 00 h (see below), I hereby provide you with both the sunshine duration (hours) and sunshine percentage (%) data from all five CLIMAT stations in The Netherlands for Februari and March 2015. As a temporary solution, it is done via the table below. Information I may add that KNMI has looked into the issue regarding incorrect (in fact missing) encoding values for sunshine parameter S 1 S 1 S 1 (= descriptor 0 14 032) in BUFR CLIMAT in particular. It was found that in accordance to your own observation, a zero (“ 0“) was encoded for sunshine duration in the BUFR reports for the 5 Dutch stations from (at least) Februari and March 2015 that were sent to the GTS…………. 14

Collection of the World Weather Records Support by the CBS-LC-GCOS as decided by WMO EC (EC-64, Res. 14) WWR provided in 2016 for RA VI (16 of 42 countries): Armenia Austria (2014 + 2015) Belgium (since 1991) Bosnia and Herzegovina Coatia Czech Republic Denmark France Ireland Lithuania (since 1991) Netherlands Poland (2011 to 2015) Romania Spain Sweden (2014 + 2015) UK of Great Britain and N. Ireland Gibraltar Often station notes are missing NMHSs send the WWR to DWD, to DWD and WMO (wcdmp@wmo. int (Peer Hechler)) or only to WMO (Armenia) or directly to NCEI (France) 25
Conclusion and Outlook For the update of the GSNMC website the CBD-LC at DWD need to know exactly what kind of monitoring results are needed in future? The annual collection of WWR in not satisfying. A more effective procedure is very much appreciated. 26
