o. Action Verbs o The main word in the predicate is the verb. o A verb is a word that can show action. o When a verb tells what people or things do, it is called an action verb.

The Special Verb be o The verb be has special forms for different subjects. o The verb be does not show action. It tells what someone or something is or is like.
