ACTION CARD – Cancer 2 Assessment and Treatment of Patients Requiring OP Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy/Assessment/Transfusion This flow chart is to be followed for all patients with suspected or confirmed COVID 19 who require assessment and possible SACT treatment or transfusion on an OP/DC basis Assessment and Treatment Location – Echo Suite Room 1 Patient Entry Point – Fire Door to the Left Hand Side of Main Entrance OPD ( Adjacent to Plaster Room) – NB Door is alarmed Actions 1. Confirm Room availability by emailing Gen. OPD (NHS HIGHLAND) or contact Mairi Fraser, Senior Charge Nurse OP on extn 4283 2. Trained Nurse (SACT Trained if patient for chemotherapy) to meet Patient at appointed time at Entry Point. Ensure that corridor is closed off with no one else present. Use key to silence alarm before opening door. 3. Staff Member – Don PPE as below and ensure that patient and any accompanying escort is supplied and fitted with Surgical Face Mask 4. Escort patient to Echo Suite Room 1 5. Switch on VC Unit in Room to facilitate remote assessment by Consultant/Senior Nurse 6. At end of treatment and when patient ready for discharge home escort patient out of room, closing door behind you and ensuring that the window is open as you leave. Escort patient out via fire doors that they came through. Room can be accessed for cleaning immediately provided no Aerosol Generating procedures (AGPs) carried out. ALL HARD AND TOUCH SURFACES TO BE CLEANED with Clorox wipes if no AGP and patient has been able to wear surgical mask throughout time in the room. If AGP* carried out please follow AGP cleaning protocol PPE Requirements. Patient - Fluid Resistant Surgical Face Mask at all times Nursing Staff - Fluid Resistant Surgical Mask, Apron, Gloves, Visor – (only if required on risk assessment) *If AGP please follow AGP PPE Requirement protocol.
