Purpose Student Laptops are powerful learning tools and are a privilege. There are specific guidelines for their use in class which must be upheld. • Laptops are used for academic purposes. • • • complete assignments watch assigned videos conduct research digital academic collaboration other tasks assigned by the teacher • Inappropriate use of devices will result in disciplinary action according to the ACPSD Code of Conduct.
Personalized-Digital Learning • ACPSD Laptops are district property. • Students are responsible for the general care. • Laptops that are damaged or not working properly must be reported to the school. • ACPSD Technology Department are Dell certified and are qualified to make repairs without jeopardizing the Laptop warranty. * Students should NOT attempt any repairs to a district-issued laptop.
Student Pledge for Use • YOU are responsible for any damage or inappropriate activity on your Laptop. • Do not leave your Laptop unattended • Do not let anyone use your Laptop Student Pledge For Use must be signed by student and parent and returned to school before a Laptop can be distributed.
General Care of Laptops YOU are responsible for your Laptop. • Do not remove the protective cover. • Avoid applying pressure to the Laptop. • Leaning on Laptop • Squeezing Laptop between objects in bookbags • Clean screen with dry, soft cloth or anti-static cloth. • Keep liquids or drinks away from Laptop. • Be careful when carrying your Laptop. • Hold with two hands or carefully place in bookbag
General Care of Laptops YOU are responsible for your Laptop. • Do not keep food or drinks in your bookbag with your Laptop. • Use ONLY official chargers. • Do not deface or decorate your Laptop or the Laptop cover. • No stickers, drawings, writings, or labels • Fully shut down the Laptop each night.
In-Class Use of Laptops • Students are responsible for bringing fully-charged Laptop to class daily. • Close lids rather than shut down devices between classes unless the device will not be used for an extended period of time. • Laptops in use only when directed by the teacher. • Laptop screens visible to teacher • Screen Down, Screen 45, Screen Up • Keep sound muted. • unless directed by the teacher • headphones at appropriate times
Transitions with Laptop YOU are responsible for your Laptop. • Close lids rather than shut down Laptops between classes unless the Laptop will not be used for an extended period of time. • Put Laptops in your bookbag every time you transition between classes. • Laptops should not be out while walking through the hallways. • Do not keep food or drinks in your bookbag with your Laptop. • Laptops should be used for academic purposes.
Laptops at Home • ACPSD laptops are district property, but YOU are responsible for your assigned laptop. • Do not leave your Laptop unattended • Do not let anyone use your Laptop • Students may establish Wi-Fi connections with their Laptop outside of school. • Be sure to completely shut down your Laptop each night. • Establish a routine for charging your Laptop each night in a location near your bookbag. • Students who leave their Laptop at home are still responsible for completing their daily course work. Repeated offenses may result in disciplinary action.
Laptop Problems • Report any damaged Laptop or one that is not operating properly to the school. Students are NOT to attempt any repairs to the device. Leave the Repairs to the Experts!
Laptop Cameras The Laptop comes equipped with a camera and video capabilities. Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), students must obtain permission to publish or make publicly available a photograph or video of any school-related activity. Unauthorized recordings are subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the district’s Acceptable Use Policy. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that affords parents and students over 18 years of age certain rights with respect to students’ educational records including photographs.
