ACE Questions A C E ppropriate ontent Related xtensions These questions are meant to provide meaningful extensions to the daily lesson. Students will use Safari and filtered search engines to answer ACE questions and share the new information with classmates. For example, if we are studying Egypt and a student would like to know more about pharaohs, he/she could pose an ACE question to be answered later in the day. In this way students are encouraged to be inquisitive learners and have the opportunities to seek out new information.

ACE Questions Modeling: I DO • After a lesson, engage students in conversations about what they want to know more about. • Explain that asking questions is part of the learning process. • Use think alouds to model questions that you might have if you were the learner. • Introduce the process of ACE Questions and the procedure for use in your classroom. • Pose ACE questions and model key word searches.
ACE Questions Guided Practice: We DO • Give students a topic that they may find interesting. • Model an ACE question and review the expectations. • Allow students to work in groups to pose ACE Questions. • Trade questions and allow students to determine if the question meets the criteria. • Guide students whole or small group to answer questions using key search terms.
ACE Questions Independent Practice: You DO • Use ACE questions logs and/or boxes to gather ACE questions. • Approve the questions or train students to approve them. • Allow students to answer these questions using technology resources. • Have students share what they learn through whole group or Kagan structures.
