Accredited Seed Treatment Operation Standards Future Direction: ■ The Crop. Life Canada Board provided direction to expand the scope of the Accredited Seed Treatment Operation Standards to encompass all commercial seed treatment facilities (as defined as treating seed for sale/gain) that will be enforced by an industry no-ship policy effective January 01, 2021. ■ Scope: impact those commercial operations that are treating cereals and pulses that have not already completed an audit (~200 sites nationally). ■ Engagement strategy to ensure all stakeholders are aware of the scope evolution with consistent outreach over the next few years. ■ Plethora of technical support from Crop. Life and members for commercial seed treatment operations navigating the audit process. 6

Accredited Seed Treatment Operation Standards Key items to note leading towards 2021: ■ Pre-audit

Accredited Seed Treatment Operation Standards Key items to note leading towards 2021: ■ Pre-audit incentive ($400) for operators that would like to have an AWSA auditor come to their facility to complete a pre-audit. ■ Provide a GAP assessment of current operations vs seed treatment standards so operator has clear understanding of what is required to allow for fact based decision making/business planning. ■ Development of corrective action list with AWSA auditor to allow operator to achieve full compliance thereafter. ■ Ability to achieve grandfather status on specific protocols (A 1, A 2, B 2 a & b, B 3, B 10 a & b). ■ Must complete a pre-audit by March 31, 2020 to be eligible for the preaudit incentive (thereafter the cost will be the obligation of the operator). 7

Accredited Seed Treatment Operation Standards ■ This process has been challenging as the standards require operations to change some aspects of how they operate in an effort to take a common approach to environmental, health and safety within commercial seed treatment facilities. ■ Crop. Life Canada’s members are committed to the implementation of the standards. ■ Ensure that all stakeholder opinions, positions and feedback is heard and taken into consideration throughout this process. ■ Ensure that seed treatment operations are up to speed with the seed treatment standards implementation, potential business impacts/opportunities and seek technical support from Crop. Life and its member companies as needed. 8
