What diplomas are available? • Health and Social Care • Science • Humanities • Entry requirements are that you have a minimum of 1 GCSE in English / Maths at grade 4 (C) or above • If you do not have GCSEs we do offer adult GCSE classes in both English and Maths.
Health and Social Care What will I study? • Health Studies • Human Biology • Psychology Examples of degree progression • Adult / child nursing • Midwifery • Mental health nursing • Social work • Psychology • Criminology • Plus a range of other HE study options
Science What will I study? • Human Biology • Chemistry • Higher maths • Practical science project Examples of degree progression • Dental hygiene • Biological sciences • Nursing • Teacher training courses • Plus a range of other HE study options
Humanities What will I study? • English • History • Philosophy Examples of degree progression • History and archeology • Business management • Childhood studies and education • Degrees in any of the key subjects studied
What support will there be on the course? Personal tutor Other support services • You will see your tutor once a week. They can help with academic questions and help develop your study skills. • Student support services offer help with a wide range of issues. • They are also there for personal support on the course if you need it. • We also offer a counselling service.
What about funding? • If you are not funded, you will be able to apply for an advanced learner loan to cover tuition fees. • We will guide you in how to apply for this and what evidence you will need to support your loan application. • This is added onto your loans at university and treated the same as any other student loan. • Once you complete your degree, the loan for Access diploma fees is written off.
What about applying to university? • You will receive support throughout the course from your tutor and from the information and guidance team. • We can assist you in writing your application and personal statement and we will provide an academic reference for you.
How to apply for the Access to HE diploma • Apply though the Weymouth College website. • We will then contact you to arrange interviews and / or assessments. • During your interview, you will receive further advice on the diploma you have selected and you will be able to meet a member of the Access team.
