Acceptable use policy. • A set of guidelines set up by an organisation stating what staff can and can’t do to prevent staff misusing ICT. • It generally has: 1. Introduction 2. General Computer Use – Health and Safety 3. Network and Internet Usage 4. Email 5. Security 6. Training – Must be offered to ensure policy is followed
Appropriate use of ICT equipment • Report broken equipment and not leave others to do so • Not store games or other unauthorised software on computers • Keep regular back-ups
Appropriate use of networks • Not use network to send inappropriate e-mails • Change password on a regular basis • Log off system if they leave the workstation
Appropriate Use of the internet • Not download games, music or video to store on PCs • Not to use internet for misuses such as hacking and spreading viruses • Don’t download programs without permission
Inappropriate use of ICT • Using ICT to commit fraud • Blackmail • Stealing company data • Performing personal tasks – shopping etc • Telling others your password
Malpractice and Crime Malpractice Crime Improper or careless use of ICT Committing acts against the law • Accidently deleting data • Not creating back ups • Not logging off after using network • Hacking • Deliberately distributing viruses • Stealing hardware
