ME • Realistic SLS operating scenarios include large chromaticity • A useful lever for combating impedance instabilities • Development efforts so far have been with zero or very small chromaticity, where the chromatic footprint can be confined to the half-integer box. • With larger chromaticity, the chromatic footprint cannot be squeezed into the half-integer, and must be optimized to the integer. • SLS (1) operates with large chromaticity • APS-U has been designed for +5/+5 and spans full integer • SLS upgrade operation at large chromaticity needs to be validated, and large chromaticity, large footprint SLS magnet schemes need to be developed.
