Early College Program Rationale & Objectives • Local Program – Concept developed at Simons

Early College Program Rationale & Objectives • Local Program – Concept developed at Simons Rock College (1964). • Reasonable Cost. • Allows Student to Finish High School While Enrolled at the College. • Real College Experience - Students attend classes with on-campus college students. • In most cases, credits earned (C and above) transfer easily to other two/four year colleges. #

Early College Program Design • Small Classes – most sections capped at 35. • Classes will be scheduled during school hours. • Students choose which courses to take with guidance from the ECP campus counselor. • Transportation – Deer Park HS transports students to and from the HS & college for all 8 – 9: 15 AM classes. • Communication with designated high school counselors and parents/guardians is maintained (a signed FERPA waiver is submitted). #

Early College Program Post Graduation Options • Apply to the college of choice with a college track record. • College faculty letters of recommendation may be requested. • Transfer with college credit. • Knowledge of college policies/procedures. • Finish College Earlier – In two years students can earn a maximum of 33 college credits (inclusive of summers). • Be More Active – Take less credits each semester upon entry to college as a full-time student. • Stay at Suffolk to earn an Associate’s Degree. #
