ACAT IAC October 2020 Rebooting ACAT Korea
Thoughts on Format… Preserve Plenary + 3 -tracks structure. Posters? Virtual systems are available and will no doubt develop further over the next year. Or should we move towards more lightening-talk sessions? How many hours and at what time-of-day? Afternoons in Europe is least-worse compromise but… Do we want some Morning (Europe) slots? Or do we “record and replay” some parts?
Thoughts on Fees… v. CHEP is likely to have no direct participant fee but CHEP 2022 definitely will. What are other v-Conferences doing? For ACAT 21: Participant fee or pass-round-the-hat model? Labs may have unused travel budgets? Is registration/fee completely enforceable for non-speakers? Increase number of speakers Lightening Talks? Administrative cost of many small financial transactions? If fee is too small, this gets ridiculous?
Next Steps Agree conference format Revise the master to-do list Reschedule regular IAC and SPC meetings Announce new dates and format Confirm or revise: Committee membership Track coordinators and Track Topics Plenary proposals Prepare: Call for abstracts New ”first bulletin” (normally ~9 months in advance; should we advance? ) Invitation of Plenary Speakers
